The Royston mining district, nestled in central Nevada, is home to several mines, including Lee Hand, Bunker Hill, and Oscar Wehrend—each contributing to what we now call Royston turquoise. Known for producing some of the most beautiful turquoise in the U.S., Royston stones feature a dazzling range of colors, from deep blues to vibrant green-blues and greens. Often paired with rich red to brown matrix patterns, the blend of blues, greens, and mottled matrix gives Royston turquoise a signature, one-of-a-kind appearance. Although production is limited, Royston remains one of the few classic Nevada mines still actively producing these exceptional gemstones.
